Catalonia's first protocol against sexist and LGBTI-phobic violence in the audiovisual sector
Created by Catalonia's Department of Equality and Feminism and the Catalan Film Academy, this protocol was a pioneer for the industry. This press conference featured Judith Colell, president of the Catalan Film Academy, who explained how a new framework to protect workers could address previously hidden harassment. The paper included all the steps in the production process, from auditions to awards cerimonies, as well as preventive actions and specific measures.
A part from Colell and the Ministry of Equality and Feminism, the press conference had Lola Calvo, the only intimacy coordinator in Catalonia who proposed more trainings during shootings to prevent abuses.
Herta Müller and Wajdi Mouawad headline the Biennal del Pensament
Barcelona has become a referent a meeting point for culture and dissemination through its multiple events and festivals. One of them is the Biennal of Thought, which gathers many panels and debates around the city every two years. For the 2024 edition, our team attended the press conference to get to know the names featured.
One of the protagonists was Nobel prize winner Herta Müller, who, through her personal story, explained the dictatorships of Eastern Europe. Another star-feature was Wajdi Mouawad, author of “Birds of a Kind”, who participated in a panel with director Oriol Broggi. In fact, Broggi directed many Mouawad’s plays.
A tribute to 50 years of Zeleste at the Mercè festival
Before Razzmatazz, Zeleste was the main concert hall in Barcelona, home of “Laietan music” and Barcelona counterculture in the 70s. To celebrate its 50th anniversary, La Mercè (annual festival of the city) organized a conmemorative concert featuring the songs of its most iconic artists.
The concert consisted of seven chapters, each dedicated to an artist. One of the main purposes of the concert was to bring the Zeleste movement closer to younger audiences through present-day artists who covered the songs.
